Why did you become a seminarian?
During my sophomore year of college, I had a reversion to the faith. I began to pray the rosary and read books about Catholicism. I eventually started going to the ISU JPII Newman Center. There I was able to start cultivating good habits while surrounded by friends who were also striving to be holy. Through the sacraments, personal prayer, relearning the faith, stable community, adoration, and the rosary I began to practice the faith. Over time, working and becoming friends with priests and religious sisters, I was in awe of their witness to Christ. Gradually, I would ask in prayer what the Lord had created me for. As I continued to pray and seek, I felt much peace when I prayed about becoming a priest. I felt called and compelled to enter seminary and find out if I was truly called to the priesthood.
Before you entered the seminary, what were you doing?
I had just finished up the first semester of my junior year at Illinois State University. I was majoring in communications and working at Casey’s Garden shop in Bloomington.
An interesting fact about you
I enjoy fishing and once caught a 10-foot (500 lbs) hammerhead shark in the Gulf of Mexico.
