Why did you become a seminarian?
I first felt the draw to the priesthood in second grade. Growing up in a Catholic grade school, I was introduced to the faith at a very young age. I had a fascination with the faith, and desired to devote my life to God completely. Although any faithful person can live a life in close communion with God without becoming a priest, naive seven-year-old me wasn’t aware of that. I felt as though if I were going to live my life for the glory of God, I would have to do so through the priesthood. Over time, my dream to one day become an ordained priest shifted from simply being out of the hope to live a life close to God, to living a life God wanted me specifically to live. That same desire has stuck with me to this day as I continue to pursue and discern God’s will for me.
Before you entered the seminary, what were you doing?
I just graduated from Galesburg High School. During the school year, I had been focusing on my academics and sports, and during the summer I worked at Soangetaha Country Club as a lifeguard.
An interesting fact about you
I recently picked up scuba diving.
